Life Changing Client Journeys
Center for Women & Community Care
Our stories of success are not your typical Hallmark movies, which assure the audience of a happy ending. Many times, we are still determining how our clients end up. We know we were there when they needed help, advice, holding of a hand, a handkerchief for teary eyes, or a steady listening ear.
Testimonials
In our first year and first months, we welcomed a young woman with a four-year-old son. Let’s call her Natalie. Natalie was from the Midwest in her early twenties and came to our community with her boyfriend and young son. She got pregnant again, and when she visited The Mary and Martha Center, not only was she in a high stage of pregnancy but also desperate because her boyfriend was arrested for some minor thefts. She was investigated. Natalie worked a fairly hard manual job but kept it as long as possible due to her pregnancy because she needed an income.
Her situation was complicated, and it stabilized after many twists and turns. We introduced her to a church in the community where she started attending and receiving support and friendships, to the point that she could return to her parents in the Midwest. The process lasted about nine months, during which we stood by her side, coordinated help with the church, saw her give birth to a beautiful baby girl, and bid her happy farewell to her home.
I still keep thinking about her. She looks happy with her children on Facebook, and I sincerely hope that life is treating her much better now.
“Your program has been truly beneficial in providing spiritual support and the necessary aid in our time of need. Your constant care, understanding and resources has not only provided relief, but it has encouraged us to manage our health and goals while offering encouragement to others. You have been a blessing to our family, and we are forever grateful. Please continue to let your light shine and provide light to others.”

“Mary and Martha Center was a huge help! They helped get me back on my feet. Giving advice and resources that a person can check on from anything like housing and food. I made new friends that I can cherish for the rest of my life! I would recommend them to anyone. Regina, Janna, and Laura are all blessings! I would love to thank them all for all the help, support, and love that they provided! In a good way I pray that I will never have to endure anything like this situation again but, all outcomes are super good!”

We started working together in 2021 when a group of five women from the Weala District Conference formed part of a mentorship program led by Jana Strukova and Regina Butler. Since that mentorship, the women have had resilience in dealing with situations that confront them daily. The financial empowerment to these women was a breakthrough for them and their families.
